Celebrate America awards

Celebrate America is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. That means the annual show featuring 1940s big-band music will be even more special this year. Founding director Brenda Anthony said performances are September 2nd-6th in the Utah State University Ballroom and half of the tickets have already been sold. In addition to the harmonies of the Stardust Singers, Dancers and Larry Smith Glenn Miller Orchestra, the nation’s veterans will be honored.

Executive Director Michael DuBuois said with contributions left to Celebrate America by the late Lt Col Von Freeman, four World War II veterans will be presented with awards.

“There will be four different nights where we’ll honor a particular veteran of war. In their honor, we will be partnering with an organization called the Utah Honor Flight. In tribute and in honor of these veterans, we’ll be making a financial donation to the Utah Honor Flight which helps men and women of the military, particularly World War II veterans, fly back to Washington D.C. to see their memorial,” he explained.

The Celebrate America event includes three parts: a delicious dinner, a Broadway-type program and dancing. For tickets or more information, call 435-554-7333.
