Logan Municipal Councilmember Gene Needham told his colleagues Tuesday that there are many desirable homes and neighborhoods in Logan. Those who know Needham realize he has invested in numerous properties, both residential and commercial.
In his presentation, Needham suggested it would be wise to make planned, code-updated neighborhoods in some areas.
“I’m bothered, myself, with what is happening on 100 West and 100 East,” Needham said, “the commercialization that has come into the homes that used to be there. We have a potential blight to the city.
“What I see is a gradual mixture of entities in opposition to each other: rental, commercial and single dwelling homes, all competing for the land.”
Needham stressed the importance of the city making improvements to make some of the homes competitive in the market. He said there are resources to help finance improvements such as the Logan City Redevelopment Agency.
Council members told Needham they would discuss the issue further at a later meeting.
