Logan author Tyler Whitesides is about to release his fourth book in the five-book middle grade fantasy series Janitors. On KVNU’s Crosstalk program, Whitesides said he developed the idea for the Janitors series after working as one.
Whitesides worked as a janitor in the evenings while he was attending Utah State University as a music major.
Before he leaves on a nationwide book tour, Whitesides will be signing autographs and presenting a program Friday night at Logan High School where doors open at 6:30 p.m. The program begins at 7 p.m.
Whitesides said he likes to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary and he plans to tell a story doing just that Friday night.
“In the story, I am in the janitor at the school. I have dressed up some of my friends in garbage suits. So they are wearing garbage from head to toe,” Whitesides explained. “The garbage has come to convince me to take the trash out.
“But I don’t want to. So we go from area to area in the school and in every area we go to, instead of taking out the garbage, we end up just drumming on things.”
The title of the fourth book is Strike of the Sweepers. He plans to take the book on the road as he has the others and Whitesides said he enjoys visiting schools in the day and signing autographs at book stores in the evening.
