LOGAN- Tomorrow, September 20, you can walk to end Alzheimer’s at the Willow Park. The 2014 Walk to End Alzheimer’s will begin at 9 am. Registration is at 8 am. The walk is put on by the Alzheimer’s Association, and is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care.
Walk to End Alzheimer’s first started as a memory walk in 1989. In 1993, it became a nationwide event and raised 4.5 million dollars. Last year, 409,000 people participated, bringing in 57.2 million dollars.
“Every 67 seconds someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease,” said Utah Chapter’s Communications Director Melissa Lee.
There is no registration fee for the walk. However, every walker is encouraged to make a personal donation and commit to raising funds in the fight against Alzheimer’s.
If you can’t make it to the walk, feel free to donate at alz.org/walk. Lee hopes that even those who may not be directly impacted by the disease will still come out and participate.
