Joyce Tarbert’s life to be celebrated at Lewiston City Ballroom

A celebration of Joyce Tarbert’s life is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lewiston City Ballroom. Friends and family members are invited to attend. Tarbert passed away on September 26 at the age of 82.

She was always active in community affairs including the Cache County Republican Party and as a board member for the Juvenile Justice System. She was most passionate about her involvement in the Cache Community Food Pantry which she ran for many years.

Matt Whitaker, current director of the food pantry, says he started working there in 2003 and worked for Tarbert for a year until she retired.

“I realize that Joyce cared about the hungry right until the very end,” Whitaker says. “If you read her obituary she put in there ‘in lieu of flowers donate to the food pantry.’

“So right to the very end, she was wanting to make sure the hungry in Cache Valley were taken care of. That was just typical of Joyce.”

Whitaker says Joyce visited the food pantry often after she retired.
