Accident blocks mouth of Logan Canyon

LOGAN — The driver and passenger in a single vehicle accident were transported to Logan Regional Hospital, Friday afternoon. The accident occurred in the mouth of Logan Canyon, US 89 near Stokes Nature Center.

Logan City Police Chief Gary Jensen said the driver, 29-year-old Tyrus J. Miller had to be extricated from the vehicle.  He was taken by ambulance in critical condition and later flown to McKay-Dee Hospital. 

The passenger, 29-year-old Ashley P. Wright was also taken by ambulance and is expected to recover.

Jensen said investigators are suspicious that Miller may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.  They will not now for sure until toxicology tests are completed.

The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m.

Traffic was restricted to just one lane while crews cleared the accident.

An investigation into the accident is continuing.
