Turley says mail-in ballots change campaigns

Jeff Turley is the only Democrat running for office in Cache County and he is hoping to unseat Republican State Representative Curt Webb in District 5.

If elected, Turley said he would work hard to get more money for education, especially public education.

For the first time this year all of Cache County is voting by mail. Turley said there are probably advantages but he feels it has cut a full month  off campaigning.

“It would be interesting to see, statistics wise. Hopefully the County Clerk is keeping record of this,” Turley said. “What percentage of the vote is coming in and what time after this voting so the candidates in the future can determine is running for office over after the first week when the ballots go out or do we have up to the last minute to keep campaigning? It’s an unknown.”

He made the comment Thursday on KVNU’s For the People program. Turley said in the meantime he will continue to work hard because he feels political balance is badly needed in the Utah Legislature.
