Jogger taken to hospital after being hit by car

Crews reporting to a vehicle-pedestrian accident at 550 South 200 West in Smithfield. A man jogging in the middle of the road was struck by a silver Mazda. He was taken to Logan Regional Hospital.

SMITHFIELD — A man was hit by a car while jogging Tuesday morning and transported to the hospital.

Smithfield City Police officer Brandon Muir said the man was jogging south on 200 West near 550 South, when he was hit by a silver Mazda also traveling south.

The jogger was reportedly in the middle of the road, dragging a weighted sled.

The accident occurred at 7:10 a.m. just before sunrise. The driver of the Mazda reported not seeing the man before hitting him.

Muir said the jogger was speaking to paramedics while they treated him. He was taken by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
