Man arrested for threatening a couple with a handgun

Andrew Lesky, 43, arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony and two felony counts of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.

LOGAN — Police have arrested a 43-year-old man accused of threatening a couple with a handgun and assaulting one of them with a knife.

Andrew Lesky was booked into the Cache County Jail Monday afternoon. He made his first initial appearance Tuesday in 1st District Court. He’s being charged with two counts of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony and two felony counts of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.

Logan City Police Capt. Curtis Hooley said officers were called to an apartment Sunday evening, near 75 East 600 North. A woman there reported Leskey, her former boyfriend, had threatened her and another man with a handgun.

After the couple was able to wrestle the handgun away from him, Leskey produced a knife and cut the man’s clothing. He then ran away and was gone when police arrived.

Another officer located Leskey Monday and arrested him without incident.

Hooley said police have had previous involvements with Leskey during the past six-months. He also has several non-violent felony convictions in California.

Leskey is scheduled to appear again in court November 4.
