Utah is back on top of Forbes’ annual rankings of the “Best States for Business.” Utah reclaimed the top spot after dropping to third place last year.
On his monthly Let Me Speak to the Governor radio program Thursday, Governor Gary Herbert said that is encouraging and it means the policies Utah has put into place are working.
“It’s not just creating a lot of jobs,” Herbert said. “We’ve done two things. One, we’ve diversified. We’re the fourth most diversified economy now in America. That means we don’t have all our economic eggs in one basket. So that bodes well for the future.
“Secondly, what came out of the Forbes article too, is that our household income is the highest of all the 10 states they identify as having the brightest future to grow the economy. So we’re creating a lot of jobs and higher-paying jobs.”
The governor said the state will work very hard to make sure it tops the Forbes rankings five out of six years.
