Utah State’s David Collette named Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.– Utah State redshirt freshman forward David Collette has been named Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, November 16. It is the first career MW weekly accolade for Collette.

Redshirt Freshman, Forward, Murray, Utah / Murray HS

‧ Averaged 19.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as Utah State posted two come-from-behind non-conference victories en route to a perfect 2-0 record in the opening weekend of play.

‧ Also contributed five steals, five blocked shots and two assists while shooting 72 percent from the field (18-of-25) over the two-game span.

‧ Tallied a program freshman debut-record and game-high 22 points in a 72-61 season-opening win over defending Big Sky Conference champion Weber State on Friday.

‧ Converted 11-of-15 (.733) field goal attempts while adding six rebounds, five steals and two blocked shots.

‧ Scored 14 of his 22 points in the second half as the Aggies rallied from an 18-point halftime deficit for the victory.

‧ Tied for game-high honors with 17 points on 7-of-10 field goal shooting and three free throws in Sunday’s 60-55 road win at Illinois State.

‧ Also added four rebounds, two assists and three blocked shots.

‧ Was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field in the second half while scoring 13 of his 17 points over the final 20 minutes to aid in Utah State’s comeback from a seven-point halftime deficit.

‧ With the Aggies holding a 58-55 lead with three seconds left to play in regulation, Collette converted both ends of a one-and-one to seal the five-point victory.
