Troopers looking for cause of Friday night accident

LOGAN — Two Garland residents, a mother and baby were severely injured Friday night in a two vehicle accident on Valley View Highway, state road 30.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cade Brenchley said a white truck, believed to be a Ford F-150 was traveling east, when the driver tried to pass several cars, pulling in front of a Lincoln, traveling in the opposite direction.

The Lincoln, driven by 20-year-old Kaden Burgess, swerved off the road to avoid hitting the truck and lost control on loose gravel. It then came back onto the road and into oncoming traffic where it was broadsided by a red Chevy Aveo, driven by 35-year-old Rosa Haro of Nibley.

Brenchley said four people were inside the Lincoln and had to be extricated by emergency crews. Two of the passengers, 24-year-old Marissa Burgess and a one-month-old baby were transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital. They were later flown to a Salt Lake area hospital.

Troopers said the driver of the truck did not stop after the accident and investigators are now trying to find them.

“If the driver would just come forward we can complete the investigation,” said Brenchley. “It appears the only violation was improperly passing another vehicle but we want to make sure we have all the evidence.”
