Woman injured in Wellsville traffic accident

LOGAN — An 83-year-old woman was transported to Logan Regional Hospital Wednesday, after a two vehicle accident near 5400 S. US 89/91in Wellsville.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jason Kendrick said Edna Daugh was driving a Chrysler Town and Country and tried to cross the highway when she pulled in front of a Mercury Grand Marquis, traveling north bound.

The Mercury broadsided the Chrysler on the passenger side.

Kendrick said Daugh was not wearing a seat belt and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Daugh’s husband was in the passenger seat and was seat belted. He was uninjured.

The driver of the Mercury, 69-year-old Layne Melvin was also wearing a seat belt and didn’t appear to have any serious injuries.

Kendrick said it’s more proof that seat belts can prevent injuries and encouraged drivers to use caution during the Thanksgiving holiday.
