Mountain Crest band and orchestra combining to present Christmas Fantasy

Mountain Crest’s band and orchestra have collaborated and present Christmas Fantasy, December 11th and 12th. Christmas Fantasy is described as an imaginative story for children that includes traditional Christmas music.

“Christmas Fantasy was started back when Mountain Crest first opened when all we had was a marching band,” says Jason Petrovich, Mountain Crest band director. Petrovich says its a new story every year and this one features an angry lion trying to find the Christmas spirit.

The production will include Christmas songs with a narrator and actors woven into the story.

What makes this production different is that usually the different performing groups present separately. But this time the band and the orchestra are combined.

Petrovich says, “We actually haven’t put them together (yet) but once we do it usually runs pretty smooth.” Putting the band and the orchestra together provides different possibilities for music.

The intended audience is elementary children and kindergarteners. Petrovich says, “it is a great first time introduction to instrumental music.”

Christmas Fantasy will be performed in the Mountain Crest auditorium at 7 p.m. both nights. Tickets are $2 for students, children & senior citizens, $5 for adults and $15 for immediate family only.
