Fee increases proposed at Golden Spike National Historic Site

The Golden Spike National Historic Site is seeking public comment on possible increases to park entrance fees as part of a national initiative. The proposed changes for entrance fees at Golden Spike National Historic Site for seven-day single vehicle summer entrance fee increase from $7 to $15, seven day single-vehicle winter entrance fee from $5 to $15, per-person (walk-in or cyclist) rate from $3 to $7, motorcycle rate from $5 to $10, and Golden Spike Annual Pass from $15 to $30.

Park Superintendent Leslie Crossland said a decision has not yet been made about whether or not to increase fees at Golden Spike. She is hoping to receive considerable input from the public.

She said the additional revenue increased entrance fees could provide would be helpful to complete critical projects, including renovation of the Last Spike Site seating area, trail maintenance on the Big Fill Walk and various upgrades for visitors with disabilities.
