Habitat ReStore gives back to the community

A unique retail store has been operating in Logan for awhile now. It’s the Habitat for Humanity ReStore located at 232 South Main in Logan. Executive director Todd Cottle and store manager John Ricketts were on KVNU’s For the People show last week.

“The ReStore is essentially a thrift store for home improvement items. So anything you can think of that you would go to a home improvement store you can come and find at the ReStore either second hand or something…everything is donated,” Cottle said.

Store manager John Ricketts said the ReStores have been popular elsewhere. They’ve had lots of people come in from different parts of the U.S. saying they had a ReStore where they came from and they’re glad to find one in Cache Valley.

He said that word-of-mouth spreads fast and what people seem to like the most is that with everything sold the money goes back into the community so that they can build a house for low-income families. So it’s a people-helping-people situation.

Those wishing to donate can drop-off items during store hours. Hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cottle said that many times people have items they can’t load into their car so they will come pick them up.

Pick-ups can be scheduled by phone or email and donation receipts are made available at your convenience. Their phone number is 435-752-8419.
