The Cache Valley Center for the Arts (CVCA) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Wendi Hassan as its executive director beginning March 2, 2015. The board selected Wendi from a field of applicants who responded to a nationwide search. Her appointment follows the resignation of Jim Kreutzberg in October, 2014. Former Executive Director Wally Bloss has been assisting since October with the transition.
“We are thrilled Wendi has accepted our offer to become the next CVCA executive director,” said Tina Murray, board chair. “We look forward to both the vision and the energy she will bring to CVCA and to the rich arts community we are so fortunate to enjoy in our valley.”
Wendi comes to CVCA with more than twenty years of arts administration. She holds an MBA from USU, an MA in Arts Policy and Administration from The Ohio State University, and a BA in Theatre Studies from USU.
Her arts management career has included several positions with CVCA as education and outreach coordinator, development coordinator, and director of Communications. She has been a drama specialist with the Utah Festival Opera by Children, business manager and teacher for the Unicorn Theatre, and worked with most of the valley’s arts organizations. In 2009 she was named the executive director of the Alliance for the Varied Arts, which she successfully merged with CVCA in 2010, eliminating her position. For the past five years, she has been the community outreach manager for the Utah Division of Arts and Museums in Salt Lake City. She is known through the state arts community for her work as the co-director of the Change Leader program.
“I am honored to rejoin the Cache Valley Center for the Arts and delighted to be able to return my attention fully to the Cache Valley arts scene,” said Hassan. “No community in the state is our equal in terms of performing spaces, the organizations that perform in them, and the audiences that attend our performances. I look forward to being part of the next great chapter of CVCA’s story.”
Wendi and her husband, Dennis, live in Logan.
