LOGAN — Search and rescue crews from multiple counties were dispatched Thursday to look for an injured snowmobiler, southeast of Hardware Ranch.

Cache County emergency dispatch originally received a call from one of the two snowmobilers around 11:30 a.m. The caller reported they were riding in the Arbs Basin area, east of Ant Flat Rd., when the other man wrecked his sled, possibly breaking his leg.

The caller told dispatch operators they are both off-duty law enforcement officers from Evanston, Wyoming. They reportedly had plenty of food and water, and were dressed for the conditions.

The caller was able to ride to the top of a nearby peak and get cellphone coverage. Dispatch operators were able to keep partial contact and obtain a GPS coordinate of their location.

Crews found the two men around 3:00 p.m. The injured snowmobiler reported being cold and was complaining of leg pain. He was transported out of the basin by rescue sled and then taken to Ogden Regional Hospital by ambulance.

Due to snowy weather a medical helicopter was not able to assist in the search.
