Leroy Van Mayer, 61, left us to be with his Heavenly Father on, Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, ID.
He was born Dec. 2, 1953 in Missoula, Montana to Vanita and Werner Mayer. He resided in Lewiston, ID until he entered the Army in 1971, served in the Vietnam War and left the Army in 1974.
He moved to Salt Lake City, where he met Doris Green, they married on Dec. 10, 1977 and made their home in Wellsville.
He was the father of three children and grandfather to four and a half grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Leroy enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, camping, bowling and spending time with his family.
Leroy is survived by his wife Doris; and their three children, Crystal (Dustin) Madsen, Joshua (Heather) Mayer, and Brock (Taylor) Mayer; his grandchildren; his grandma, Pearl Dielman; dad Werner Mayer; siblings Debbie (Scott) McLean, Terry (Donna) Mayer, Bruce (Paula) Mayer, and Tasha (Aaron) Carper; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by Grandfather Van Bailey; mom Vanita Mayer; Uncle Jim Davis; Uncle Orville Mayer; and great-niece Kennadee Bateman.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nyman Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4<sup>th</sup> in the Wellsville 1<sup>st</sup> Ward Church building on 30 South Center in Wellsville. A viewing will be prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be in the Wellsville City Cemetery.
