Guest organist from Great Britain to perform at Campbell Organ Festival at USU

A guest organist from Great Britain is offering a concert at Utah State University in conjunction with the Campbell Organ Festival hosted by USU’s Department of Music and the Caine College of the Arts.

Organist Stephen Cleobury, director of music for the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge, will perform Wednesday, March 18 at the Kent Concert Hall in the Chase Fine Arts Center. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

Cleobury has been associated with the King’s College Choir for more than 25 years. His work there brought him into fruitful relationships with many leading orchestras and soloists, among them the Academy of Ancient Music and the Philharmonia.

Lynn Thomas, director of organ studies at USU, says this concert gives USU an opportunity to show the residents of Cache Valley the Holtkamp organ. He says USU is one of the few institutions of higher education to have such a fine instrument.

The Campbell Organ Festival is sponsored by the Tanner Trust for Utah Universities. The March 18th concert is free and open to the public.
