LOGAN, Utah — Utah State’s Maci Bingham was selected as the Mountain West Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held March 16-21, it was announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference.
Bingham, a junior from Basin City, Wash., placed first in both the shot put (14.23m/46-08.25) and discus (49.27m/161-08), as well as placed second in the hammer (55.21m/181-02), at the UC Irvine-hosted Spring Break Invitational on March 21.
Bingham’s toss of 49.27m in the discus ranks sixth all-time in school history and 28th nationally this season, while her marks of 14.23m in the shot put and 55.21m in the hammer rank eighth all-time.
UNLV’s Destiny Smith-Barnett was selected as the MW Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. It is the first MW weekly accolade for both student-athletes.
USU’s outdoor track & field teams will compete at the Utah Valley Collegiate Invite on Friday, March 27. The Aggies will also be in action at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, on Friday and Saturday, March 27-28.
