Vehicle rollover near Benson sends three to the hospital

LOGAN — A vehicle rollover late Monday night sent three teenagers to the hospital, one in critical condition.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Locke said the accident occurred near 4608 North 2400 West in Benson.

A 12-year-old female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency crews reported she was unconscious but breathing when they arrived on the scene. She was transported to Cache Valley Hospital by ambulance and later flown to Primary Children’s Medical Center.

The 16-year-old female driver and other 19-year-old male passenger were also injured and had to be hospitalized.

Locke said deputies are investigating the accident after it was discovered the driver did not have a license.

There were no signs of drugs or alcohol, and speed did not appear to be a factor. None of the three people were wearing seatbelts.

Locke said it appears the driver’s inexperience may have been the cause of the accident.
