Many other Republicans feel differently, but Utah Senator Orrin Hatch said he supports President Obama in his nomination of Loretta Lynch to the office of US Attorney General.
Lynch would be the first African American woman ever appointed to the office.
“Loretta Lynch’s nomination should be considered based on her record of service over several decades, actually 30 years, which shows that she’s well-qualified to be attorney general,” Hatch said. “Would I have picked her? No, probably not. But I’m not the president. The Democrats have the president and he’s the one who nominates. She has personally committed to me that as attorney general she will abide by the injunction issued by the Federal District Court to halt the presidents recent unlawful executive actions on immigration.”
Hatch said he is committed to working with Lynch on immigration while upholding the law if she gets the nomination.
