Albert Einstein, Susan B. Anthony, Walt Disney, Pele and other notable historical figures were portrayed on the stage at Heritage Elementary School in Nibley Thursday. Fourth grade students participating in the Cache County School District’s Gifted and Talented program dressed in costume and shared a poem they wrote about their historical figure, without directly divulging who they represented.
Heritage Elementary School had been closed for normal classes, but it was opened Thursday evening to celebrate the student projects from Heritage, Nibley and River Heights elementary schools.
Students highlighted the works of the first female doctor, one of the greatest composers of all time, a baseball iron man, a brilliant brain surgeon and other notable figures from medicine, sports, entertainment, and history.
After allowing those in attendance to guess who they might be, the students returned to another area of the gym where they stood next to displays they had created for the characters they researched.
Similar programs will happen on April 28 at Birch Creek Elementary (for students who attend Birch Creek, Summit, Park and Lewiston elementaries), April 30 at Millville Elementary (for students who attend Millville, Providence and Greenville elementaries), May 5 at North Park Elementary (for students who attend North Park, Sunrise and Mountainside elementaries), and May 6 at Canyon Elementary (for students who attend Canyon, Lincoln, and Wellsville elementaries).
