Renovations of Utah Theater nearly complete

He admits it’s been a slow process but Gary Griffin, operations manager for Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, says renovation of the Utah Theater in downtown Logan will soon be coming to an end. Griffin says the fly system has just been delivered, the elevator is about ready to go and painters will soon begin their work.

He says hopefully the project will be completed by early summer. Griffin says it is a theater like none other he has ever known and it will have many capabilities.

“We’ll do live performances in there. We can do full scale operas with scenery moving around,” Griffin explains. “We can change the accoustic of the building and turn it into a movie house where we can show classic films.

“We’ll get the mighty Wurlitzer organ up and operating and we can do organ concerts. It will be a very multi-purpose theater.”

Griffin says several performances are already scheduled to be held in the new Utah Theater.
