Fire Friday night at Logan apartment, 270 North 100 East.

LOGAN — A fire Friday night damaged a home that had four apartments inside, leaving eight people displaced.

The fire was reported at 9:35 p.m. near 270 North 100 East.

Logan City Fire Marshal Craig Humphreys said when crews arrived on the scene; they found flames coming from a basement apartment door. Flames quickly spread to the main floor before firemen were able extinguish the fire.

The home had been converted into four apartments, one in the basement, two on the main floor and one in the upstairs.

Humphreys said crews initially were told some of the eight residents were still inside the home. However as firemen entered the four units, no one was found inside. It was later learned that some of the residents were not home at the time of the fire.

Humphreys reported two of the apartments, one in the basement and one on the main floor sustained significant damage. There was also smoke damage throughout the home. Damage is estimated to be between $80,000 and $100,000.

Fire marshals are expected to begin investigating Saturday morning and determine the cause of the fire.
