Jeanie Simmonds has been serving on Logan’s Municipal Council since September 2013 when she was chosen from among 13 applicants to replace Councilmember Tom Jensen. Jensen had accepted an assignment in Jordan.
Simmonds, who now serves as council chair, says she has thoroughly enjoyed the job and feels much has been done. She is especially proud of seeking ways to enhance downtown and ways to keep Logan neighborhoods stable.
“I think both of those are important,” she says. “The one thing we have been doing as a city council is working through the general plan chapter by chapter and discussing it so that everyone is aware of the work that has been done, and what we have yet to do and where we can potentially focus our resources.”
Simmonds has filed for a four-year term on the council because she would like to keep Logan going in the right direction. She was previously a member and chair of the Logan Planning Commission.
