Procedures at Cache County Clerk’s Office remain unchanged since same-sex Supreme Court ruling

Several marriage licenses have been issued to same-sex couples in the Cache County Clerk’s Office since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled such marriages were constitutional. County Clerk Jill Zollinger says same-sex licenses have actually been issued since the State of Utah recognized them earlier this year.

So is the procedure different for same-sex couples?

“It’s the same as we’ve always done for couples coming in for marriage licenses. They have to provide the same information and identification as all couples coming in. So they are treated just the same.”

Same-sex marriages are sometimes performed in the clerk’s office but Zollinger says she has never performed one herself.
