Celebration of Flight 2015 is the theme for the Logan-Cache Airport’s community day coming up on Saturday, July 18. Garr Walton, of the airport’s authority board, says he hopes a lot of people will turn out.
There will be a Run the Runway 10K starting at 7 a.m. and doors open at 10 a.m. Walton says there will be numerous aircraft on display, most of them of World War II vintage, and Sky Dive Utah will drop in with the American Flag at 10 a.m.
The keynote speaker is Mark Patey from Spanish Fork.
“He and his twin brother set West Coast to East Coast then East Coast to West Coast records, I believe it was last year, in a modified airplane called a Lancair,” says Walton. “This year they have modified another Lancair by putting a turbine engine in it. It still has a propeller but it is turned by a jet engine.”
He says Patey will probably be bringing the plane. Walton says there will be acrobatic demonstrations by Cache Valley’s own Brad Wursten and former U.S. Senator Jake Garn will also address the crowd.
