USU employee knocked out deer that ran into shop

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — A Utah State University employee says a deer came running into a campus shop but ran off after he hit it.

Andy Miller, a USU facilities employee, tells the Deseret News (http://bit.ly/1RplrrB) that the incident happened Friday while he was working on flooring in Aggie Blue Bikes shop.

According to Miller, he had earphones on and didn’t hear anything but saw the deer running as he turned.

Miller says he swung one of his tools at the deer, hitting the animal.

Miller says he feared he had accidentally killed it but after a moment, the deer stood up and left.

USU police spokesman Travis Dunn says deer are common on campus but it’s rare for one to enter a building.

Dunn says he was not able to locate the deer.
