As usual North Logan is hosting an all-day Pioneer Day celebration on Friday the 24th of July. It will include a breakfast, a parade, and a variety of other activities.
Event chair Brenda Anthony says this year something new has been added–an evening pageant titled Pioneers and Patriots.
Anthony says both the Green Canyon Stake and the North Logan Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are co-sponsoring the celebration to make sure the hoiday celebrates not just hot dogs and fireworks but the commemoration of the arrival of pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley on July 24, 1847.
She says the outdoor pageant starts at 8 p.m. at Elk Ridge Park and it will include what she calls a “giant children’s chorus with the children encouraged to dress as Pioneers.”
”The North Logan Library is putting together a special DVD,” she continues. “It’s about 10 minutes long and it depicts what Pioneer Day is all about, why do we celebrate it, and what’s the significance. So it will be a teaching occasion as well as entertaining.”
Anthony says the Celebrate America Singers will also be doing a couple of numbers. Everyone is invited to the pageant and also to the pre-pageant barbecue. Fireworks will conclude the celebration.
