Prepare to laugh and help out a little girl fighting cancer at the same time. It’s called a ‘Comedy Night Fundraiser for Macklyn Campbell’ and it will be held Thursday, July 30th at a new location-The Nibley Park (300 West on 3200 South). The night features headliner Aaron Woodall, comedians Abigail Harrison, Marty Archibald and local funny-man Mike Grover will serve as emcee. It’s all to help Macklyn (or Macky)Campbell and her family. On KVNU’s For the People program last week, family member and one of the organizers, Stephanie Ochiang says the night will feature more than just laughs.
“Actually comedy is just one part of it”, she explained. “We’re going to have jumpers for kids, we’re going to have somebody twisting balloons and we’re going to have a dunk machine.”
Ochiang credits the Logan Fire Department in providing that. There will also be a bounce house for the kids. Tickets are $15 dollars or 2 tickets for $25 dollars..4 for $45 dollars and kids 5 & under get in free. She said a small portion of the price goes to the comics.
“And then everything else goes to Macky and our family. Basically it is for the transportation and the cost because it is so expensive. She has this cancerous tumor on her temple, by her eye, and they’re doing chemo(therapy) right now and they just started doing the radiation as well”. Ochiang said “My sister-in-law had to quit her job to stay home and take care of Macky and to get her back-and-forth to the treatment.”
The showtime is at 8p.m. but Ochiang says activities begin at 5p.m. there will also be BBQ Pulled Pork (from Dickies) and hamburgers and hotdogs. Tickets are available at Logan Nursing & Rehab, Guaranteed Auto and for more information you can call area code 657- 900-6273.
