Getting muddy for a good cause

The muddier you get the more fun you will have so make sure you are part of the Man vs Mud and/or Kids vs Mud activities coming up Saturday, August 29 at the American West Heritage Center in Wellsville.

Mud Run Chairman Chance Getz says the Heritage Center is teaming up with The Family Place and the muddy event is a fundraiser for both organizations.

“It’s a 5K fun run,” Getz explains. “It’s not a timed event. It’s all about the fun in the obstacles.”

Getz says people can run the course alone or, better yet, bring others with them.

“Come sign up as a team, come have fun with your friends. We put together a 5K obstacle around the farm. There are obstacles, big slides, there are mud kits, there are ice kits, there are foam machines.”

He says registration starts at 8 a.m. and the different heats are at 9, 10, 11 and 12 noon. You can register online at .

Colby Wells, who is coordinator for the Kids vs Mud activity, says there is an awesome obstacle course set up just for younger participants and kids will be ale to slide, slip, climb and dip, getting muddy and messy all the way.
