Semi accident shuts down I-15 for five hours

A two semi accident Friday morning sent one man to the hospital and blocked traffic on I-15 for several hours.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers report the accident occurred just before 3 a.m. near milepost 356.

A USF Redway semi pulling three trailers, was reportedly traveling northbound when it went through the median and cable barriers, coming to a stop, blocking both southbound lanes.

Moments later, a Fed Ex semi also pulling three trailers was traveling south and crashed into the USF’s trailers.

Troopers shut down a portion of the freeway and diverted southbound traffic for over five hours, while crews cleared the accident.

The driver of the USF semi was transported to Brigham City Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
