Campaign signs have been popping up in cities where municipal elections are being held this fall. Logan City is one of those and Logan City Recorder Teresa Harris says it will be a different kind of election this year.
She says for the first time ever residents will be voting by mail. Harris says ballots will be mailed out on Monday, October 5 and voters will be receiving those ballots during that week.
“Once they receive that what they’ll need to do is there will be four candidate names on the ballot,” Harris says. “They’ll need to vote for up to three. Then they can either put a stamp on the return envelope and mail it back to city hall or they can bring them in in person to city hall.”
She says there will be a polling location at Logan City Hall where voters can drop their ballots off if they want to vote in person. The four candidates running for three open seats on the Logan City Council are incumbents Jeannie Simmonds, Karl Ward and Herm Olsen along with Tom Jensen, a former councilmember.
