Police looking for gunman in Logan

Ryan Joe, 31, accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend with a gun late Wednesday night at the Blackhawk Condominiums near 196 West 1250 South, Logan.

LOGAN — Police are looking for 31-year-old Ryan Joe, who allegedly assaulted and shot at his ex-girlfriend late Wednesday night at the Blackhawk Condominiums in south Logan.

Logan City Police Captain Curtis Hooley said they received a call at 10:25 p.m. reporting an individual may have been shot with a handgun. Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot and seeing a man running from the scene, south on Talon Drive.

When officers arrived at the condo near 196 West 1250 South, they determined nobody had been shot but a woman had been injured during a domestic dispute.

Hooley said the woman reported getting into a fight with Joe who struck her in the head with a handgun. The woman also claimed the gun went off when she was struck.

Paramedics treated the woman on the scene for a wound to her head. She refused to be hospitalized and was released.

A perimeter was set up around the area. Hooley said the SWAT team was called out to assist in the search and local residents received a reverse 911 call, telling them to lock their doors and remain inside their residences.

The perimeter was taken down around 3:00 a.m. after Joe was not located. Officers are continuing to search for him.

Hooley said Joe has had previous involvements with police. Court records show he is currently on probation for a second-degree felony drug distribution charge.

Police believe Joe may still be armed and dangerous. He was reportedly last seen wearing a Dallas Cowboy’s jersey and sweatpants.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police.
