Choral music and country music will come together the night of Saturday, October 10 when “Country Roads,” a family pops concert, is presented on the stage of the Ellen Eccles Theatre in downtown Logan. There is a 2 p.m. matinee and the evening concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
The concert features the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra directed by Dr. Craig Jessop, dean of the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University.
Dr. Cory Evans, head of the choral department at USU, said those who attend will enjoy what he calls, “an old fashioned radio show” that will appeal to all local families.
“The heart of the concert will be the medley of songs from the Grand Ole Opry,” Evans explained on KVNU’s For the People program. “That will be performed by the AFC and the orchestra.
“I think everyone will recognize something there from Wabash Cannonball to You Needed Me to Tennessee Waltz. I think these will all be familiar to the people that are there.”
Evans said a special guest will be the Cold Creek Bluegrass Band out of American Fork. He said this is a concert every family member should enjoy.
