If you can’t go to Fresno, California to watch the Aggies play football on Saturday, there is a place you can go to watch the game with your friends and neighbors in downtown Logan.
Gary Saxton, manager of the Logan Downtown Alliance, says the game will be shown on the huge “screen” of Logan’s new outdoor theater. The location is the west parking lot of Cache Valley Bank at 100 North Main.
Saxon says there will be “food vendors so people can bring their chairs, blankets, couches, whatever you want to watch the game sitting on and enjoy the evening watching the game downtown.”
The game starts at 8:30 p.m. but the festivities begin before that. KVNU’s Aggie Touchdown Countdown football preview show will be broadcasting live from the location at 6:30 p.m.
This is not the first time the parking lot and side of a building have been used like this. When the Everton and Sons Hardware building on 100 North was torn down a group approached Cache Valley Bank owner George Daines and told him the wall that remained would be perfect for an outdoor movie screen. Saxton says the idea was given approval and when the wall was remodeled what they came up with was the size of a drive-in movie screen.
Saxton says a sound system and projector were acquired by Cache Valley Bank and the result has been fantastic. The Sportsman sponsored a ski movie at the outdoor theater a couple of weeks ago and those who went called it “awesome.”
While Saxton is helping to promote the event, the football screening is sponsored by Cache Valley Bank, The Sportsman, S.E. Needham Jewelers and Stork Landing. The weather forecast for Saturday evening is clear and nice.
