It is an all-new type of Halloween entertainment for Music Theatre West. Executive Director Debbie Ditton says the company has joined forces with the Logan Golf and Country Club and Hamilton’s catering to present a high-class dinner theater in the murder-mystery style.
Ditton says Death of a Diva will feature music, murder and mayhem. The murder-mystery musical centers around five divas as they prepare to star in a Vaudeville show. When one of the women comes to an early demise, the cast realizes that one of their own is a murderer.
“We decided we wanted to do it in a dinner-theater format because that is something that has not been done regularly in Cache Valley,” Ditton explains. “It is something that is actually happening all across the United States and is quite popular.
“They are three act plays where the audience gets to visit with the cast at the intermission and ask them questions. Then at the end they can see if they have chosen the correct person who they think is the murderer.”
Ditton says Death of a Diva is scheduled for October 22nd, 23rd, 29th and 31st at the country club. The buffet starts at 7 p.m. with dessert served during the intermissions.
The show was written by local playwright David Sidwell. Ditton says Monday, October 26 is a “dessert show” that is especially priced for students and families. For more information, call (435) 232-3054.
