Boy hospitalized after being hit by car

A teenage boy running toward a school bus was hit by a car Wednesday morning and later hospitalized.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Peterson said the 15-year-old was running to get on the bus when he was struck by a car, driven by 18-year-old Christopher Reeder.  

The accident occurred at 6:45 a.m. near 310 South Main St. in Lewiston.

First deputies on the scene reported the the boy was in severe pain. He was transported to Logan Regional Hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries and is reportedly in stable condition.

Peterson said witnesses told deputies the school bus was stopped with its stop sign deployed and red lights flashing at the time of the accident.  

Reeder was traveling south and reportedly failed to stop for the bus.  He was issued a citation.
