Tour of Utah was an economic boon to Cache Valley

It was a lot of work but both Logan Mayor Craig Petersen and Logan Downtown Manager Gary Saxton said they loved having Tour of Utah come to Logan this year. In fact, the mayor told members of the city council Tuesday he has already offered to have the professional cyclists back again next year.

Saxton said the Tour of Utah was watched on television in 139 different countries and it was most popular in Canada, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Australia.

“I’ve been asked a lot, ‘what economic impact did this have to Logan City?’ Directly, the Larry H. Miller Sports Property group spent $370,000 of their own money here,” Saxton told the council. “That went to hotels, catering, meeting spaces and dining.”

Saxton said the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau reported that the month of August saw the largest occupancy ever in local hotels and motels due to Tour of Utah.
