No meetings of the Logan Municipal Council were scheduled for the month of December so it will be a new year when the next meeting is held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.
City Recorder Teresa Harris says at that meeting three members of the council will be sworn into office: Jeannie Simmonds and Herm Olsen, who were re-elected in November, and Tom Jensen, who was elected after defeating former councilmember Karl Ward.
She says friends and family members normally attend the ceremony.
“That will be first on the agenda and we will also have a special ceremony by the police and fire honor guard,” Harris explains. “They will do a flag ceremony. The mayor will give his state of the city address at that meeting, as well.”
Harris says Logan City will be observing its 150th anniversary in 2016. It will be celebrated on January 17th with a special sesquicentennial program in the Logan Tabernacle.
