Accident sends two men to the hospital

LOGAN — A two vehicle accident early Monday morning sent two men to the hospital with serious injuries and blocked a portion of 1000 West for 90-minutes.

Logan City Police Captain Curtis Hooley said a Toyota pickup was northbound near Center Street when he lost control, swerving into the southbound lane. He was broadsided by a southbound truck.

Officers radioed that both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles before being transported to Logan Regional Hospital by ambulance.

Hooley said paramedics reported both men suffered significant but not life threatening injuries.

Officers closed southbound traffic for an hour-and-a-half while they investigated and cleared the accident.

Hooley said icy roads at the time are believed to have been a factor in the crash.
