Cache GOP sad to see Draxler give up his seat

State Representative Jack Draxler, R-District 3, announced last week that after serving five terms in the Utah Legislature he does not plan to seek re-election this year.

Gina Worthen, the Cache County Republican Party’s vice chair, says she hates to see him leave but realizes he feels he has served long enough.

“Changes come and sometimes it’s surprising, or not surprising,” Worthen says. “I appreciate what Representative Draxler has done. He has tried to do his best.

“He is a good man and we appreciate his service to legislate for District 3. We look forward to seeing who our new Republican legislator will be.”

She says one person has already filed for the legislative seat: Val Potter. Potter, a North Logan resident, filed Monday, the first day of the 2016 political season. Potter currently serves as a member of the Cache County Council.
