Logan Mayor announces improvements to Merlin Olsen Central Park

In his State of the City address on Tuesday, Logan Mayor Craig Petersen outlined improvements made in the Parks and Recreation area and also proposed new projects for 2016.

The mayor said you will soon start seeing some of those improvements at Merlin Olsen Park.

“There is an existing tennis court and basketball court there,” Petersen said. “They are very, very old. We’re going to redo those.”

Petersen said in addition to being redone, the courts will serve multiple purposes for multiple seasons.

“Those redone ones will have the basketball and the tennis courts, but will also have Pickleball courts. They will be set up so in the winter they can be used as a small ice arena. They will be particularly suited for hockey.”

The mayor also announced that new Pickleball courts will be going into Bridger Park and there will be two new trails in Trapper Park.
