He describes himself as “a confused individual who can be bought” and after more than 30 years on public television political satirist Mark Russell is still joking his way through elections and other newsworthy events.
Russell was in Cache Valley Monday and on KVNU’s For the People program he talked about some of the 11 presidential elections he has covered. He said the politicians he has covered include the good, the bad and the impeached. He said the candidates have given him a lot of material this year.
“The one element that’s been missing in this campaign, up until now, the one thing missing was Sarah Palin,” Russel exclaimed. “And here she is. There is a God!
“So Sarah Palin and Donald Trump, that is a marriage made in comedy heaven.”
The satirist said in his contest against Donald Trump, Republican Ted Cruz needs to build a wall on the Canadian border. As for Trump, Russell feels he is good for America but as he becomes more self-absorbed and more full of himself, Donald Trump will explode (resulting in a large release of natural gas, providing clean energy for years to come).
