LOGAN — A 30-year-old Logan man, Catlin L. Joe, was sentenced to up to a year in jail and given credit for time already served after previously pleading guilty to attempted aggravated burglary.
Joe appeared in 1st District Court Monday morning for sentencing. According to the court clerk, he was ordered to spend up to a year in jail and was given credit for the 60-days he has already served. He was also ordered to pay $750 in restitution.
According to police, on December 10 Joe went to the victim’s home after responding to a Craigslist personal post, advertising sex. The victim told officers he and Joe “smoked a joint” and drank some vodka before having consensual relations.
Afterwards, the victim said Joe became angry and aggressive, and started fighting with him.
Police said when a roommate who was upstairs heard the two men struggling and tried to intervene, Joe punched him in the face. He was later booked into the Cache County Jail and held on a $25,000 bail.
On December 28 Joe accepted a plea deal. Under conditions of agreement, he pleaded guilty to the attempted aggravated burglary charge, a second-degree felony. In exchange, state prosecutors dropped two other minor charges and agreed not to recommend a prison sentence.
