Approximately 18 months ago Logan City formed a task force to look at ways the Logan River and surrounding area could be improved. It was actually after comments from some residents that something needed to be done.

At the Logan Municipal Council meeting on Tuesday, Logan Mayor Craig Petersen said the task force took their work very seriously.

”The task force involved members of state government, members of our staff, and about a dozen university professors,” he explained. “They’ve worked for about 18 months. Last week they presented some basic recommendations on that.

”Herm and I were at an open house. I am very, very pleased with the systematic way they have gone through that and the conclusions they have come to.”

He said the recommendations come from an environmental, recreational and safety perspective. City Council Chairman Herm Olsen said residents who have learned about the plans are very excited.
