Preliminary hearing scheduled for Idaho man facing 43 theft and fraud charges

LOGAN — A 21-year-old Idaho Falls, Idaho man facing 43 charges of felony theft and fraud will remain in the Cache County Jail as prosecutors prepare evidence against him.

Tyler N. Garcia was arrested February 9. He appeared in 1st District Court Monday morning as a judge set a preliminary hearing date for March 7.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Peterson said, Garcia was taken into custody after deputies found him riding in a stolen pickup truck with several other occupants, near the Cache Valley Transit District building. He had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Box Elder, Salt Lake and Cache Counties, and the state of Idaho.

The truck was found to have been rented from a UHAUL company and not returned.

Peterson said deputies found Garcia had multiple stolen bank statements and credit cards in his possession. He is being held without bail.
