Friday was the first day to file for an office in this election year and Karl Ward was one of the first to appear at the Cache County Clerk’s Office Friday morning.
Ward has filed for a seat on the Cache County Council in District 1, the position that Corey Yeates is vacating.
An executive at Zions Bank, Ward has previously served four years on the Logan Municipal Council and before that was 13 years on the city’s planning commission.
“I felt that I had some experience and some skills that could be utilized to the benefit of our county government,” says Ward. “I simply enjoy being able to contribute in a positive way and that’s what I intend to do and want to do.”
Ward ran for reelection to the Logan Municipal Council last fall but did not earn enough votes to secure another four year term.
Ward says he realizes there are serious challenges in finding ways to fund the needed infrastructure in the county and he would work hard to find ways to do that without financially burdening our people. He believes his business experience would be helpful in dealing with these challenges.
Others who have filed for the Cache County Council include Barbara Tidwell and David Erickson. Erickson is currently on the council representing the North District and Tidwell has filed to replace the retiring Kathy Robison on Logan Seat #2.
